Having always had a huge interest in sport and playing hockey at a provincial level in Ireland, I knew my future would focus on promoting health and wellbeing amongst young people. I studied Sports Studies and Physical Education at University College Cork and never looked back. Following on from this, I worked as a PE Teacher for four years in Ireland, at a wonderful school in Tipperary which focused on the health and wellbeing of students through PE and sports.

About Me

My name is Sarah Sullivan and I will be working as a Primary PE Teacher this year at Safa British School.

I am from County Cork, in Ireland. Having always had a huge interest in promoting health and wellbeing amongst kids, I studied Sports Studies and Physical Education at University College Cork and never looked back. Following on from this, I worked as a PE Teacher for four years in Ireland, at a wonderful school in Tipperary which focused on the health and wellbeing of students through PE and sport. I then decided to complete a Leadership and Management course at Limerick Institute of Technology as I have a huge interest in pastoral care.

Having gained a positive experience of teaching at the school, I decided to make the move to Dubai in 2019 to explore new opportunities with my teaching. Dubai has been a home for me ever since and having worked here for two years as a PE teacher and on the pastoral care team, I am so excited to be a part of the Safa British School team.

My teaching philosophy is wholesomely based arounds students being at the centre of their learning. I believe PE is a fundamental subject where students can gain confidence, understand their bodies, improve their social skills, enhance their wellbeing, promote fundamental movement skills, and develop a sense of risk-taking.

Finally, the ‘Me You Can’t See’, I enjoy keeping fit through sport and getting outdoors. Hockey has been my passion for me for many years and since I landed in Dubai, I have started playing golfing with Chicks with Sticks. I really love exploring the world, cooking new recipes, and socialising with my friends.

My Experience

B.Ed in Sports Studies & Physical Education

My best moment in teaching so far, has to be focused on our school trips and competitions. From All-Ireland Finals in hockey, to skiing in Italy, to Dubai 30×30 bootcamps on Kite Beach, there has never been a dull moment. It is so rewarding to see students competing in their given area or exploring a new part of the world through physical activity.
