I believe that every child should have their own voice.
My name is Katie Lordan and I grew up in Co.Limerick, which is in the south of Ireland. After I completed secondary school, I obtained a Bachelor of Education (Honours) degree, with a specialisation in Special Educational Needs from Mary Immaculate College, Ireland. I spent two years teaching in Ireland before moving to the UAE.
Finally, “the me you can’t see”, when I am not in school, I enjoy playing and watching GAA, travelling to new countries and soaking up the sunshine with my friends!
I have taught in Abu Dhabi. I loved my time there and it offered me many wonderful opportunities to upskill, such as being a mentor to my peers.
In my classroom, I believe that every child should have their own voice. I aim to tailor my teaching to suit each child’s needs and interests to make it not only educational, but also fun. In my classroom a variety of strategies are used to ensure the child is learning. In the words of Ignacio Estrada “If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn”
