Course Outline

IGCSE History prepares students for an unknown future. The skills of critical analysis, evaluation, and logical thinking will be mastered through this course. The IGCSE is designed to prepare students to understand the history of the world, the origin of the power structures
currently in existence, and ways think critically in order to make well-informed decisions

Topics Studied

The students will undertake a study of the following areas:

  •  Two Depth Studies:
  •  Germany: 1918-1945
  •  Superpower Relations- 1943-1972
  •  One Historical Investigation:
  •  The Vietnam Conflict: 1945-1975
  •  One breadth study in change:
  •  Middle East Conflict, Crises and Change 1917-2012

How it’s assessed

The course is linear. Students will be assessed at the end of the course through two examinations. Each examination lasts for 1 hour
and 30 minutes and consists of extended response questions and essay questions. Each paper is worth 60 marks.
