Chemistry (GCSE)

Chemistry (GCSE)

Sixth Form Overview

Students aged 17-18 years old

Course Outline

GCSE Chemistry gives students the chance to gain a good understanding of atomic structure, chemical changes and organic chemistry. The specification is based on a series of topics related to particles and chemical reactions and relevant to students. It is designed to
help them understand how Science can be used to explain the world in which they live and the responsibilities humans have. Teachers encourage students to develop their practical skills with hands-on work which helps engage and enthuse them. Students can see how
science is used to solve problems ranging from industrial issues to environmental concerns.

It is suitable for students of all abilities, whether they intend further study in Science or not. It can open the doors to future careers
in Medicine and Industry. It is a linear course, this means students will study the course for two years and sit the final papers at the
end of the course. Students will sit two papers at the end of the course.
